Question:  What does the word "Pentecost" mean?

Pentecost is a word that translates "fifty". It's fifty days after Passover. In Jewish tradition, Passover is celebrated as the day that Moses brought down the law of God to the people. It's also the day of the celebration of the first fruits of the harvest given to God. For Christians, this is the Church's birthday. This is the day that the Holy Spirit promised by Jesus dropped down upon the believers. With the coming of the Spirit, the work of the Church began!
